Isiseko Senkonjane

Isiseko Senkonjane / The Swallows Foundation SA (ISSA) works as a Development Agency for all forms of the arts and culture throughout the Eastern Cape seeking innovative solutions to the intractable problems of rural and urban poverty using the arts within the communities. The organization prides itself with ability to work with all the regions of the Eastern Cape and for being able to unearth new talent.

Background, and Structure

ISSA’s pilot programmes began in 2006 before formal registration in 2009. It has a Board of eight members (attached). Isiseko Senkonjane Board of eight members is chaired by Rev. Mcebisi Xundu. ISSA’s programme has received regular and substantial support from the National Arts Council, the Provincial Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture and Arts Council England since 2007. The Foundation also works within Sihlanganiswa Ziinkonjane/The Swallows Partnership with North East England (MoU signed by the Premier of the Eastern Cape Province and the political leadership of NE England in February 2008).
